I've been cooking, can't you tell... I got too much thyme on my hands

I've given too much energy to things that matter and don't, and that has affected things here on the blog that matter and don't. I realize I've spent way too much time discussing the merits and qualities of crabon fibre on the local forum with a guy who will never get it. I've only kept it up because:

1) Sometimes I like to argue for the sake of arguing.

2) Some local people are getting some mild entertainment following along.

3) I was hoping to break 7,000 views on the topic.

At the Tarheel Trailblazers party on Saturday I heard from plenty of people who have been having fun adding their two cents or just reading along.

Fellow antagonist Brian Hynes has joined in on the fun, although he's been saying what most are thinking. That's me on the right, the rider who can't think for himself, likes shared sacrifice, and hopes that one day in the far future brilliant network engineers who are "in no position to adequately determine a properly designed and built carbon part or mountain bike frame from one that isn't" will figure out how to make carbon indestructible... like steel.

Well I think that discussion is running out of steam, or at least I am (maybe). It's not the only thing on my mind...

Custom frames, so worth it when done right, so not worth it when something goes awry. It's happened to me, it's happened to friends, and it's happened to a lot of angry curmudgeons on MTBR. A lot of discussion should be a part of the process, and if you don't know much about what you want you should have expectations to match. That said, I obviously don't know everything, and at some point I have to just trust the numbers and sign off. Last night there were some more after my bed time emails sent. Hopefully we'll have this thing nailed down in the next week or so. It ain't easy being Team Picky.

Paint? What do you think? Black? White? Black and white? I'm limiting the options to keep my head from hurting too much. If I had to choose from the many colors of the visible spectrum I'd have a hard time not having ultra violet or infra red as options. I have decided on either all the visible waves in the spectrum at once (white) or none at all (black).

When will I let you in on all the details? Perhaps once the box gets to my house or even after it's built and driveway tested. I'm not jinxing this one, unless I already have...

If you paint it black, it should have sparkles in it

Well, it's time to go whole hog on this one. 3D violet headset, frame, wheelset (or pink), Pink Oury's, you get the idea. Bike manufacturer in white. That way, their logo pops and people can't help but stare (while talking about you, "hey, isn't that the guy with the blog? He's brighter, and shorter, in person. What's that strapped to his bike?"

You are going to look ridiculously tiny on a 36er.

It's still going to hit. Best bet is to find a shoe sponsor and begin the trend of flat toed cycling shoes. Much akin to the flat toed boot.

wv: quitindi (adj: kwite-indy): Dicky looks quitindi in those stylish flat toed cycling shoes.

you're going to have some toe overlap issues no matter what color the frame is.
first color choice: titanium
second color choice: Sparkle Black

Alright, let's get this straight- when it comes to pigments, BLACK is all colors, white is the absence. In light, it's the opposite.
I mean, if we're gonna be picky...

As I remember it we see white because the surface of the object bounces the entire visible spectrum back at our retinas while black absorbs all the waves of the visible spectrum (that's why it gets hot).

But when a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it would it still be brown?

If you ride a rigid singlespeed and no one sees you, is it still cool?
