No, thank you

I'm sure you're expecting a second PMBAR post. Something along the lines of me fuming on a private and public level, recapturing the frustration of the moment and the thoughts that have tumbled around in my head for the last 36 hours.

Ain't gonna happen.

How about a happy turn around on this one? A focus on the "good things."

I'm thankful that I have a wife that is okay with the fact that I have come home year after year on Mother's Day morning smelling like mud, sweat, beer, and failure wandering around the house mumbling about different routes while I deal with a dirty bike, laundry, and camping gear.

I am thankful that Brado was out on the course to capture this image of me coming down my favorite trail; Pilot Rock.

I'm thankful that he won't get pissed that I cropped this one down:

I am thankful that my new Misfit diSSent Brontoawesmeous Meatplow V.5 is everything I wanted it to be. Blasting down Pilot Rock was proof positive that we did something right (not the royal "we," but Peter, Thomas, and I).

I am thankful my rear brake works BEFORE I head to Trans-Sylvania Epic (registration closes in five days) in less than three weeks. Good news indeed... still endorsing Hayes, still not heard from them, still not their most esteemed sponsored rider, still not benefiting one iota.

I am thankful that Eric and Erinna put on PMBAR and a few other stupid events. I just got my new copy of Dirt Rag that has the article in it wherein I describe just what inspired Eric and I to do the things we do. Buy it, read it, enjoy.

I am thankful that Eric and Erinna are able to pull in some pretty good sponsors and my shitty 22nd place still earned me the very saddle I had my eye on and some grotesquely pink Tifosi's.

I love the WTB Silverado.

I am thankful that Zac proved to be a most excellent partner. Put him down on the list of people I owe a proper Pisgah Productions finish to. He and I will be back at some point to do some damage, I assure you of that.

I am thankful that I have enthusiastic friends and readers who cheer me on out on the course. It means a lot to me. Thanks for thinking I'm not a COMPLETE asshole AFTER you meet me, although I know you are disappointed with my height.

I am thankful that everybody is understanding my need to go out for three more Wednesday morning road rides before TSE instead of blogging.

See you Thursday.

you knew about the wooden nickel when you made the passports and didn't give me the inside information I paid you good money for.

Saddle and pink glasses in May for 22nd?!
I've got to race in the South.

(yeah, I know, it's all about the experience yadda-yadda-yadda...)

After only a short time spent on the Silverado, I have to say it's my favorite too. I don't know about those pink sunglasses though.

That was a surprisingly positive post... way to keep things in perspective. You'll own it next year no doubt!

eastwood, he won't own anything...he is getting slower every year.

I actually like those pink shades.

Kinda crazy race story. I'd be pissed. Then again, maybe I would just be stoked about what was actually a first place finish. Hope you enjoyed the eating sandwiches and chatting with folks on the course part at least. As a lolly-gagger myself, I always recommend a little stopping to smell the flowers.
