The rhythm of love...

Keeps me dancing on the road.

Good news and bad news.

Bad news:  My new behk frame will not be here before Bill Nye and I leave for Snowshoe on Thursday.

Good news:  My new behk frame will not be here before Bill Nye and I leave for Snowshoe on Thursday.

Whuh?

Well, I'm not sure how I feel about spending all day riding lift-served trails on this:

I've ridden some decent rental bikes at resorts, and I've ridden some real turds.  Snowshoe's prices are $150 for a DH bike and $90 for a Freeride bike.  I guess they don't know that "freeride" is ded and has been replaced with Enduro™ or Park.  Anyhoo, add in the cost of a lift ticket at $40, and I guess I'd rather destroy myself on a rigid bike all day long.

Not like I'd be hitting this...

photo cred: plzkthxbai
or this...

regardless of what kinda bike I have between my legs.  If Bill Nye wants to hit that, he's a big boy.  He can do what he wants.  Mebbe I just take photos and provide commentary and halpful taunts.

At least I was smart enough to not mount my prepped for Monster Cross "race" wheels on the Vertigo Meatplow V.7 in preparation for next weekend's "race."

Yeth, I now hang my spare or "race" wheels in The Pie's office, bringing the household bike infestation to a heavy majority of the living spaces.

So how is this good news?

I was kinda freaking out that if the frame and sundrious parts showed up today, I'd be doing a panic build tonight.  I'd rather enjoy the process if possible and doing it with the clock ticking and the quality of my four day weekend on the line would be a no bueno.  That and what if UPS or FedEx left me with a note and now I gotta go get it or have it delivered the next day and then I'm waiting for it to show up Thursday evening so we can leave and I can ride in the back of a dimly lit Sprinter van trying to build my new behk as we hurtle down the highway at 76MPH?

Also a no bueno.

So West Virginia and also the Other Virginia coming up.... unless the weather forecast goes sideways.

Where it currently is heading.

We've been tossing around the idea of going South (to avoid the heat, natch) or mebbe head West to Tennessee.  Looking at you Windrock, Chattanooga, and Knoxville.  Who knows at this point?  The upside of jumping in on Bill Nye's recently acquired van life is the freedom to change plans on a whim.  The downside being that if it is raining cats and gods, you're stuck in a fucking van looking at your friend and eating Spaghettios.

I do like Spaghettios tho.

Snowshoe's rentals are hit and miss. Most of the people I know that have been going there forever now generally just ride their trail/enduro bikes on the more interesting and longer trails around the park than just the lift stuff. Windrock on the contrary has really nice rentals (SC V10's) and the trails there are very gnarly and long with no real mellower runs not too mention some of the steepest tracks in the east.

Why not take the Bronson to WV?

Dickie couldn't even hang onto the JaBronson for a full season. He's such a masochist that only a full rigid SS can bring him the joy of great suffering.
