The Pflug still (probably) eats people

My sock sponsor is complaining about things being a little boring around here since I joined Facebook. Let's see if I can do better. Here's some stuff for your head....

There was a little something-something over on Greenville Online the other day (thanks for the heads up My Name is Stephen).

2006 24 Hour Solo Single Speed World Champ spectates at US Road Race Championship. Local boy George something or other wins.

"Wow, this looks hard... not Solo Single Speed World Champion hard, but hard nonetheless. Maybe I will try this road racing thing when I am old and weak." - Rich Dillen

And a little more fluff from Velonews...

Big George was thrilled to win the right to wear the stars and stripes in 2010, but when he missed the chance to meet Rich Dillen he was beside himself and overcome with grief.

"I read his blog everyday and he was right there... and I just rode past him without even knowing... sob." - G. Hincapie

In other news...

This new post on Gerry's... I mean The Pflug's blog is incredibly disturbing on so many levels. I read it once, rubbed my eyes in disbelief, read it again, fainted, came to, and then had my wet nurse read it to me with a Scottish Gaelic accent to make it slightly less threatening. First off, he titled the post R &R, as in "rest and recuperation" which would lead us to believe that just as God needed a day off after he created everything everywhere The Pflug needed some time to decompress after sewing up the NUE Single Speed title. Yet a few sentences later he reveals that he "actually did a 20 + hour week of riding this past week in preparation for Shenandoah". Twenty hours? That's how The Pflug rests, he rides twenty hours as opposed to his usual eighty hours over a seven day period. He also goes on to mention that he spent a few days "swimming for about an hour a day in the ruff surf created by Tropical Storm Danny" and wrestling sea serpents that pestered him as he valiantly fought Mother Nature's fury (he neglected to mention that, but I have my sources). According to other sources he also guided a pod of narwhals through the tropical storm to a safe haven where they could procreate and flourish safe from narwhal poachers.

After The Pflug let the world know that he only trained twice as much as a mere mortal while he was on vacation and busy interacting with tractor trailer sized sea creatures he dropped the big atomic cycling news bomb. The Pflug has decided that since he has the NUE Single Speed overall all cinched up he is going to race the Shenandoah on a GEARED BIKE. According to The Pflug's blog he has "done well at Shenandoah in the past with gears and would like to try for another good overall finish there". There you have it. No mention of me, not even as an afterthought. I would like to think that after I finished just 1hr 5min behind him at Fool's Gold he could feel my hot breath on his muscular neck. Fearing, or should I say Fjearing an imminent defeat by none other than yours truly could The Pflug be thinking he'd rather not give me the chance to beat him fair and square? Was he worried about my recent regimen of drinking Sweetwater as opposed to actual water and laying awake at night as opposed to sleeping restfully? Maybe The Pflug is no longer angry and he has turned back into mild mannered scientist Gerry Banner? Perhaps The Pflug has decided he wasn't really into single speeding enough to get a tattoo or at least grow some ironic facial hair....

Only The Pflug knows.

I told you Facebook is a waste of time... or a productivity sapper at very least.

Singlespeeds are so 2008, ex ss'ers ironically riding geared bikes is where it's at for 2010. Get with the program.

Reaally good post, at least if all else fails, you could get a job at the national inquirer.

Yea, SS bikes are for poor people that can't afford gears and ridgid is for poor people that can't afford suspension... And CX bikes are the new fixed gears.
Now that I'm not poor I have a geared squishey bike.

did you see this up in canada:

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/689220

canada isn't the peaceful country it use to be...

we are going nuts up here...

that's 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 deaths/injuries in just over a month alone in Ontario!
(cyclists)

It's friggen strange up here... all the cycling groups want to blame the cyclists and have them take courses... put insurance on their bikes etc...

almost like a battle zone up here.

enjoy the US. You folks have laws. Real laws!
