Speaking of disappointment...
I will have no adult supervision starting this Saturday.
Wait for the giant underwear. When I grow up I want to be The Todd.
The Pie is taking the kids and going on a vacation to celebrate her birthday, The Boy's birthday, and also his graduation from high school.
This means that I will be living la vida bachelor for a whole week. My initial plans were to invade Hendersonville with Big Worm and race at Hoffencross, but the powers that be have Hoffencanceled the event due to all the shit weather we've been having. Since that rug has been pulled out from underneath me I find myself looking for a new rug to stand on, since rugs can be nice to stand on, and in some cases they can really tie a room together.
There will be NO trail riding in Charlotte this weekend. The way the weather has been going there will be no riding in Charlotte for quite some time unless we can string together many days in a row of ideal trail drying conditions. I was hoping to get away somewhere this weekend, what with being absolved of all family duties and work related activities for 63 hours, but where do I go?
To fill the Saturday hole I thought about going down and doing the Snake Creek Gap Time Trial. This thought did not linger for too long in my ventromedial frontal lobe since I would have to leave Friday night right after work, drive five+ hours, find a place to sleep, and pony up $100 just to ride 34 miles in drizzly 30°+ conditions. Not too tempting indeed.
Sunday there is the slightly misnomered Storm Endurance Sports January Mountain Bike Marathon. Although the 42 mile race only has 12 miles of singletrack at least I'd be riding my bike somewhere this weekend. I would imagine there is a slight possibility of this event being canceled, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
Over on facebook my "friend" Jeremiah Bisquick (note that I am a "friend" of Jeremiah Bisquick the person but not a fan of Jeremiah Bisquick the celebrity) mentioned that he is coming down to Clemson, SC this weekend. Although we are "friends" when I asked him "Will there be ANY riding in Clemson, what with the weather and all? I'm without family all weekend and looking for something to do." it fell on deaf ears. Does Jeremiah Bisquick not want to ride with me this weekend? Is he up to some super secret training that he doesn't want publicized on some random blog that's read by half a percent of most of the endurance racing community? Are we not really "friends" in the real world? Is our relationship purely based on virtual contact and covertly playing Farmville at night (Jeremiah Bisquick bought his best pigs from me). Please Jeremiah Bisquick, call me friend.
The weather has been so bad that I fjear that the Pisgah 36 may be in fjeopardy. The weather has been so bad in the mountains that the trails have been under snow off and on for the past month, and the area has incurred a lot of damage what with all the downed trees and abandoned meth labs. Having one race canceled and one more currently looking potentially off the calender (this would be my choice as I think the race goes on regardless of weather) I have been looking to add some more races to my calender in a very real and legally binding sense. There are currently a lot of gaps in my current schedule that need filled, so maybe I can use some of my spare time this next week looking for things to do the rest of the year as opposed to actually preparing for them.

Riding in Clemson is great right now. Both Issaqueen and Fants Grove are open!!! Looks like rain Fri but Sat & Sun look ok. I want get out the trails until Mon.
Don't write the Pisgah36 off yet. It is going to be swell. I'd hate to beat you before it even starts ;)
Check out this link regarding the P36ar.

Rich, while I understand that these guys are obviously much tougher than you, do you really want them to be SOOO much tougher than you that they start a race you wimp out on?

Grab your surfboard and ride the cosmic wave to AZ
Congrats to The Boy! If there's no riding available, find some snow and ski. It's that time of year. Just don't down both boxes and bags of ale and m&m's while the cat's away.
If you're bored at the end of March you're welcome to join the ZHP rolling circus...
I was prepared to go get my ass kicked at the Snake this weekend, but only being able to do one of the three race series for the $100 was kind of a bummer. When I saw the weather forecast, I decided that my $100 could just go towards bike parts and some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale... The weather sucks here in So Illinois too...
I was taking my post lunch dump and while in mid-wince my eye caught an odd site in the magazine laying in my lap.
This may have already been pointed out by one of the hundreds of Dicky fans, but...there's a photo in the latest edition of Mountain Flyer Magazine, page 48, of some guy with a pink AC/DC jersey, pink/white wheels sporting #235 at the '09 SSWC in and amongst the masses taking the waaaayyyy outside line on a sweeping left hander in the middle of town. Bottom left hand corner of the photo.
Werd.
I have not seen this evidence that may provide proof that I was actually in Durango, so I am going to keep telling myself it was all just a dream.

Sorry, but I'm scanner challenged or else I'd send you a copy. I think it's quite a flattering image. Apparently you're good enough for print journalism, but not the hard core online stuff: http://www.mountainflyer.com/news.cfm?itemid=287
That image of Heather Irmiger in the wig sans clothing, never gets old.
I'm sure there's a fan out there than can forward you that shot from the magazine.
Yeah dude, I'm in GA and the weather here has sucked ass for a long time too.
