Then we race together

We can ride forever
I'm gonna apologize in advance for the fact that I might just be all over the place today. First off I would like to mention that I will respond to the feedback in the comments from yesterday's Awesome Strap VS Mud Man post at the end of this post so as to not bore non-strap interested parties. Please be patient or scroll down if you can't wait.

First off I would like to mention that after reading a post on the Cane Creek facebook page and trying to think of a good name for a puppy I couldn't get Turbo Lover outta my head. Thanks to my new modern type cellular device I was able to enjoy this while I was at work:

That was so awesome that I can't believe the world didn't implode the first time it was aired... ummm... wherever it mighta aired. If you didn't bother watching it I would like you to turn off your computer and walk away from it forever as you are not using it to its fullest potential.

Next you will have to endure my weekly endorsement of the Trans Sylvania Epic Stage Race.

I'm not gonna bother telling you how you'll be missing out on the race of a lifetime (if you die before Dec 2010), or babble on and on about how great the riding is in Central PA. There's plenty of info here on the latest update from MTBRacenews.com... more info than I can spew in one blog post and still have time to embed Judas Priest videos and images that really tie everything together. You should click over there and take a look for the latest TS Epic info that was fit to e-print. What I am going to do is remind you that the race entry fee goes up $150 in March, and that if you contact me at teamdicky at hotmail dot com I can give you a code that saves you $50. So register now or piss away $200 in eighteen days. Your call. If you wanna piss away that $200 in some other manner might I suggest you pay my unpaid bar tab at Pogo's Pub in Youngstown, OH.

I've been living La Vida Bachelor since Saturday. I have survived off oatmeal, beans, rice, peanut M&M's, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for four days. Mike Piazza is quite disappointed as he thought that maybe we'd go out, see a show, talk up the ladies (I'd just play the part of wingman), watch Porky's 1-3... live a little crazy. Other than eating food that has minimal prep requirements I've just been laying low and fixing broke shit around the house. I'm such an animal. Rob Halford would be ashamed of me.

On to the Awesome comments from yesterday.

Many folks suggested that I wrap my tubes and tools in a sandwich bag, plastic wrap, or a slightly used condom to protect them from mud. The way I feel about wrapping my stuff up in plastic is similar to the way Mitch Hedberg feels about fancy bread being wrapped in two layers of plastic.

"I don't need another step between me and toast."

The folks at Backcountry Research also suggest this little idea for muddy conditions:

I've done something similar using the small foam thing from an old pen for the threads on the CO2 and a piece from an old innertube for the pump. You can get creative, like a seven year old in a summer camp art class.

Where did I carry the Genuine Innovations inflator?

It was in my jersey pocket inside my Deluxe Repair/Inflation Wallet. I have tucked it in the wrapped up tube before, but I since I already carry the wallet with a few necessary items I decided to leave it in there.

As to the fact that the mud was dry and not wet:

I knew how easy it would be to wipe off wet mud so why bother, not to mention it would have been harder to clean up off the hard wood floors when I was finished testing.

As far as stealing Matt McCluskey's photo of the Awesome Strap applied to a top tube:

It was purely intentional, and I woulda got away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids... and Garth Prosser.

And concerning the use of the Awesome Strap on a carbon post:

I've done it, and it works fine. My shit stayed in place just like it does on ti or aluminum. Your post slipping in your frame is another problem. You need to get some Syntace Friction Paste (or similar product) and give it a whirl.

and to you mc. ting ba dho:

My writhings are always your pleasured.

My saddle bag is 9 years old.. Its been through the trials of Pisgah,up to 13,800 ft, in temperatures down to minus 10 degrees and suffered mud, rain, snow and hail, and a car wash pressure washer. My saddle bad has never failed me...Minimalistic though I am not.

Hardcore Priest fans tell me that "Turbo Lover" is a lame song, but I heard it for the first time when I was about 12-years-old and I thought it was the AWESOMEST thing ever.

Of course (speaking of modern type devices) I didn't really get to watch music videos too much as a kid, so this is the first time I'm seeing it. I'm trying to see it through my 12-year-old eyes: would that animated skeleton have appeared lamer than the one in the "Kranked" videos? Would Rob's Molly Ringwald dance have appeared more...less-gay?

Thank you for sharing that.

Stealing is good, and don't let anyone else tell you different.
