The party's over, let the party begin

The Shenandoah Mountain 100.  The last big dilly-do of the "season," that is assuming you don't include all the other events going down in the last (almost) four months of the year.  I am ready for it, in as much as "ready" also means "ready for it to be over."

I've allowed myself to backslide, gaining almost all the weight I've lost since some time back in March.  Impressive to say the least.  I'd say it wasn't easy, but it actually was.  I don't remember the last time I left the house early to get in extra miles.  Too tired to want to, too apathetic to give any shits.

My bike is ready, the Misfit diSSent Brontoawesomeous Meatplow V.5 got the nod.

The decision came down to this:

The Misfit diSSent Brontoawesomeous Meatplow V.5 was still in pieces from the Breck Epic.  It needed put back together at some point no matter what.  It was taking up too much room sitting in a pile on the floor.

The Dickstickel Meatplow V.6  was rebuilt after the BC Bike Race.  The crabon frok replaced with the squishy fjork, and I'd have to undo that just to do SM100 rigid, and then unredo that after the race.

My new titanium bike still does not exist.  I still need to look into that.

So that was that.

There are more events coming up that I may or may not have time to do.  The Southern Single Speed Championships (put on by none other than Faster Mustache) is coming up in a few weeks.

I was pumped to be stoked about this, but an industry insider douchebag'esque opportunity may inhibit my ability to attend this event.  I don't have an airline ticket in my hands yet, but if I don't end up with one, I'll be setting up one of my bikes Tomi cogged and brakeless for the fixed class...

because real men don't need brakes (at Paynes Creek Campground).

After that, there's the back-to-back October weekend of the Wilkes 100k and the Backyard Experience (another Faster Mustache event).

I'm in for both of those, come hell or high water... a day of knocking out all of the best of the Wilkesbermo trails in succession followed by a day of helping promote/referee/score keep/cat herd/beer pour an unprecedented event less than five miles from my house.

And if, and that's a big "if," I can stomach even more racing in 2013, there's the Cranksgiving Festival down in Greenville, SC in November.

And for crissakes, if my marriage has made it all the way to December, there's always the Single Speed Cyclocross World Championships up in Philly on Dec 8th.

This is a long shot.  I would have to go up Reinhold Messner style, leaving full-on attack style Friday night after work bound for the city of brotherly love and bolt the second it was over on Sunday.  Ewww.  I don't even like cross, well at least USACycling's version of it anyways.  This would not be that, pretty much guaranteed.

So yeah, the "season" is pretty much over this weekend.  Bring on the early release of 2014.

Agree.

I will be ready for 2014 in approximately 0.75 months...

"My new titanium bike still does not exist"

That makes me think that your dear readers (us) may be in store for a new bike saga this fall?
